Just a quick mini-review on Boardmix, an AI-powered whiteboard alternative to Miro - for one more day you can get a lifetime deal at AppSumo for around $35 (with a Plus membership - note, this is my affiliate link).
At that price for Tier 1, Boardmix is very affordable. I have considered upgrading to Tier 2 to get more team member capacity…why? I dunno, for that possible day in the future maybe I’d want to use this for a project for some job I don’t have yet. But probably not.
You’ll get a lot more AI credits with Tier 2…but here’s the problem. Unlike most AppSumo deals, you won’t get renewable credits. These are one-and-done one-time-only AI credits. You can purchase more later but that kind of defeats the purpose of getting a lifetime deal.
Mind you, you can use Boardmix without the AI and just make your graphics manually. I have used it in this fashion and found it to work quite well.
Here is my graphic of the Dick and Carey instructional design model made with Boardmix:
Because I only have 1500 one-time AI credits in my account, I’m afraid to waste them. When ends up happening in these cases is that I end up not using them at all!
You should also be aware that any team member can just vacuum up your AI credits, as there is no way to limit their use yet.
Many users have asked Boardmix to offer the option to use your OpenAI API key for AI credits, but this has not been implemented yet.
Because they are so stingy with AI credits, I can’t wholeheartedly recommend Boardmix at this point. However, if you already have an AppSumo membership, then this is a low-cost Miro alternative…for another day, that is.
Possibly, they will have other LTD offerings after this one expires. And who knows, maybe they will loosen up their AI credit system and/or offer an API, which will make Boardmix much more competitive.
Stephanie, Interestingly, it seems to bypass some of the prompt setups that the native apps do not let you do. I can get answers out of PoE that I absolutely cannot get from the individual engines that stand on their "we cannot answer that" BS.
Stephanie, Good counsel. If I am going to spring for a lifetime deal, that is what I expect. Not a lifetime in which you can charge me every time I use the darn thing. I will wait until they make an all-in deal. Even is Sessions goes under, I am still glad i took the lifetime. Use it all the time and will hope it goes on forever. But you are right, when you buy one-time credits, the underlying infrastructure often dies without you using hardly any of them because you always save them. Not going there anymore.
On another referral note, the Panel of Experts option on FreedomGPT, while impossibly expensive, is impossibly good -- I am shocked at how much better it is than the platforms stand-alone. Have been using it fairly extensively and thought you would like some feedback.
