Two Last-Minute AppSumo Deals: DocXter and AI Toolbar
Work with documents or get AI chat in your browser
Real quick - here are two “ending soon” deals you might be interested at AppSumo (affiliate links included).
DocXter enables you to chat with your documents (PDFs, etc.) and you can select between a variety of GPT and Claude models. This is available via a pop-up sale for 2 days (less by the time you read this). I haven’t had a chance to evaluate this tool yet, but I have been looking for a really good AI tool for PDF summarization for my graduate school studies.
I’m thinking about getting DocXter myself, but it seems like I’ll probably need Tier 3 and that’s a stretch right now. At some point I’ll do a longer review of my PDF parsing software.
Also ending soon: AI Toolbar is…well, yet another AI toolbar via Chrome extension. At $98 for an unlimited license, you could earn back your cost if you used it for about 10 months, even if the company went out of business after that. It only has a default GPT model, but you can make custom prompts with it.
For me, the main benefit of AI Toolbar is a very prominent voice input button, meaning you can speak your prompts instead of write them. You must first give it microphone permissions on any page you use it on, but thereafter it becomes an easy way to input requests. Since I currently have an injured wrist, the mic is very helpful for me. It’s not an infinite mic so you can’t use it for long transcriptions, just basic prompts.
